I love working with people who are as excited about their ideas as I am with my own. I enjoy discovering what's unique within a person, and then help bring their idea to life. There's a massive hole in our culture of film, video games, music and even advertising, and it needs to be identified with new creations.
I really like birds. And rivers are kind of cool, I guess. I decided to equate people I knew to birds; write them sonatas; and release them months apart. And so that's what's happening.
There is no track capacity. The memory of Birdriver's first organization is tainted with January 7, 2015. While I was researching birds at a cafe in Paris, a TV displaying police and police cars on the wall behind me drew the attention of the other patrons. Since I don't speak or understand French, I left and continued my day to go meet a friend, unknowing what happened. It wasn't until later I understood that the Charlie Hebdo attacks had happened. Later that evening, I joined the masses of people in Republique and watched them plead for justice with their hearts. I couldn't help but relate not only my acquaintances, but everyone to the chaos of birds.
Video by night
I like to document moments in time with an unpacked take on video — a simpleness that forces the subject into the lens naturally, rather than a produced perspective. At some level, they're moving portraits while also lingering on a thread that's exploring the "here to there" of a person's emotions. See all my videos | Interested in working together?
What's behind the stove?
Going anywhere or doing anything, we usually find things we didn't know we were looking for — the odds & ends of a long days work and travels. You can either throw them aside, bury them, or take them home where they'll sit dusty on a shelf until some cleaning day. These are the vulnerable blueprints behind the creative process; and they can be just as important as the finished works.
Follow my blog and watch as I polish half-ideas for the sake of transparency as a creator. You can decide what to do with them after that. I'll just leave a bag of rotten tomatoes near the door.
